YouTube Music will have live lyrics as part of a modified Casting UI that some users have already received.
A Reddit user today observed a new interface when casting YouTube Music from an Android phone to a Chromecast Ultra. Instead of the album art, song title, and artist being centered on the screen, they're now on the right with left-aligned text. This results in live lyrics that scroll with the current verse highlighted in white. The background remains a distorted version of the artwork.
The song's conclusion includes a list of approved songwriters. U/PmMeYourChromebook also mentions that the central UI can return when lyrics aren't available.
Live lyrics while streaming YouTube Music are not commonly disseminated today. We attempted to launch Cast sessions on the 2nd generation Chromecast and the Google TV, but without success.
Compared to Spotify and Apple, the lyrics on the YouTube Music Now Play screen are static and not highlighted when playing audio. It's likely to be released to mobile as well, but it's unclear if Now Playing will be altered to focus more on lyrics, or if customers should always open the middle tab first. The interface was recently re-designed on Android to conceal the dislike button and present left-aligned text, this is now a common design.
